The Talk – Lil Rel Howery Thanks Sheryl Underwood for Touting Him as ‘Next big star’ A Decade Ago

Air Date: 1/21/19 “Sheryl Underwood hosted a show on Martin Lawrence ‘1st Amendment Stars’ in Chicago. I wasn’t supposed to be on the show. Somebody missed their flight, and last minute, I was there to support Tiffany Haddish… They called me to do the show. I had to buy a shirt across the street. The crazy thing is my mom had just passed maybe a few months before that, and I remember having the set and it was surreal, and I got a standing ovation,” recalls Howery. And Sheryl Underwood brought me back out on stage after the set and told Chicago, was like ‘Yo, this is your next big star.’ That was like ten years ago. Thank you so much for that, I’ll never forget that.”
