🎧 UMI illustrates the pain of letting someone go in soulful new single “River” 🌊

By Jack Barnes

19 year old rising R&B/Soul singer, UMI, releases new single “River”. Showcasing her sparkling voice and refreshing songwriting, UMI takes her listeners on an emotional and personal journey with “River”. Enjoy this audio stream below after the jump and please share this with friends.

River is about the importance of letting someone in my life go for my own emotional well being, while feeling the pain of loosing that person,” UMI explains.

UMI reflects on an unhealthy relationship with lines such as, “I know I shouldn’t let you back in, don’t want this to end.” The wavy and laid-back beat creates a nostalgic atmosphere, bringing to life the complexities of self-discovery within her lyrics.

A Seattle native, UMI’s artistry manifests in her honest lyrics and eloquent melodies, allowing her to connect with listeners on a personal level. The laid back energy of her lo-fi sound is a reflection of her personality – unique and nostalgic. After independently releasing a handful of singles, UMI has garnered over 24,000 subscribers on YouTube, and her brutally sincere and catchy song “FRIENDZONE” has gained over 450,000 plays on Spotify as well as a feature on the Spotify Fresh Finds Best of 2017 playlist.
“Butterfly” is UMI’s first release since her “Interlude” EP in January earlier this year. With music videos in the works and more music lined up for release this year, UMI is poised to take over the game in 2018.
