VICELAND’s Noisey talks to Kesha about taking her voice back [Interview]

By Jack Barnes

The second season of NOISEY is currently underway. After episode one focused on the Bay Area rap scene, episode two ventures to Nashville (whose emo scene we explored yesterday), taking a look at the Music City’s bizarre world of hick-hop, country, and more. Starring Kesha, Jelly Roll, Margo Price, Struggle Jennings, and the infamous Mikel Knight and his last-chance group of ex-cons, the episode explores the flipside of the city that gave us Taylor Swift. In the clip below, Kesha talks about the obstacles she’s faced, both legally and mentally. Enjoy this video stream below after the jump.

Kesha on last several emotionally-straining months:
“When you work really hard at something, then to have it taken away from you is pretty devastating.”

Kesha on her determination to get back on her feet:
“I think I’m just finding my voice in the world. And so, the past three years have been me taking my center and myself back and my voice.”
