Grammy-nominated rapper and actor Wale releases his anxiously awaited new album and first for Warner Records, Wow…That’s Crazy today. Yesterday, Wale dropped a Great Gatsby themed video for his song celebrating women of color, “BGM.” Earlier this month, he paved the way for the album’s arrival with Love & Loyalty” [feat. Mannywellz]. Inciting critical praise, UPROXX dubbed it, “an upbeat, Nigerian Afropop-influenced dance song,” and Essence touted it among, “Heavy Rotation: 6 Songs We Added To Our Playlist This Week.” Meanwhile, Billboardnoted, “It’s just the beginning of an exciting fall for Wale.” Enjoy this audio stream below after the jump and please share this with friends.
Wale set the stage for Wow… That’s Crazy with his biggest single in six years. The smash “On Chill” [feat. Jeremih] not only holds the #1 spot at Urban Radio and is certified gold status, but it also emerges as his “highest-charting Hot 100 entry since ‘Bad’ in 2013.” In less than three months, it played to an audience of 400 million-plus! Claiming real estate on prominent Hip-Hop and R&B playlists across all DSPs, it’s also inching close to 187 million total streams to date.
Wale will perform “On Chill” [feat. Jeremih] on The Wendy Williams Show on October 15 and later that night, hip-hop journalist Elliott Wilson will interview Wale in front of a live audience for Wilson’s Tidal series, “CRWN.” A live performance of new songs from the album will be featured on VEVO’s popular “CTRL Session” series. The media blitz continues with an ESPN takeover on October 16. Wale recently dropped by The Kelly Clarkson Show and The Real, showing a different side of himself in these candid conversations.

There’s only one Wale. Since arriving in 2006, he has consistently gone against the grain. An old school lyricist with new school energy, otherworldly hooks and a sense of irony tailormade for its own Seinfeld episode, he instantly set himself apart. 2008’s inventive Mixtape About Nothing cemented him as a critical favorite and preceded the major label debut Attention Deficit in 2009. Bowing at #2 on the Billboard Top 200, the now-classic and gold-certified Ambition yielded the GRAMMY® Award-nominated platinum-selling “Lotus Flower Bomb.” Two more blockbusters followed as The Gifted and The Album About Nothing both crashed the Billboard Top 200 at #1 back-to-back. Shine gave the world “My PYT,” which is RIAA certified platinum, as Wale continued dropping heat. Along the way, Wale covered magazines such as Complex, Billboard, XXL and Vibe, and would receive honors at the BET Awards, BET Hip-Hop Awards, Soul Train Awards and more. To date, Wale has achieved four platinum or multi-platinum singles, three gold singles and two gold albums. Wale has over 7 million monthly listeners on Spotify and has reached over half a billion channel views on YouTube.
Wale also made history as “the first rapper to open the State Of The Union,” gracing the stage with an unforgettable performance before President Obama’s final State Of The Union Address. A regular guest of the First Family, he participated in First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Reach Higher” initiative for higher education as well. Expanding his cultural influence, Wale teamed up with Villa for a limited-edition line of sneakers. These included the Asics “Bottle Rocket,” the Timberland “Gift Box Set” and the VILLA x Wale x ASIC Gel Lyte III “IC Champion.” Wale’s label imprint, Every Blue Moon, encompasses the scope of his creative vision with musicians, comedians and screenwriters under its umbrella.
