Chairing his first U.N. Security Council meeting today, President Donald Trump criticized China for its trade practices and further suggested that the country’s leaders were “attempting to interfere” in the upcoming U.S. midterm elections.
“They don’t want us to win, because I am the first president to challenge them on trade,” Trump said in his opening remarks.
No evidence was presented by the president to support his claim. Trump did not mention election interference by Russia, who has been flagged by U.S. intelligence agencies for interfering in the 2016 presidential election.
