“We work hard to determine who is going to be an XXL Freshman and are very excited with our 2015 selections,” says Vanessa Satten, Editor-In-Chief of XXL. “The XXL Freshman Class is important to hip-hop as it offers a huge platform to new artists we believe are on their way to stardom. Many of hip-hop’s current stars were XXL Freshmen, including Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole, Wiz Khalifa, Macklemore, Big Sean, YG, French Montana, Kid Ink, Future, August Alsina, Boosie Badazz, and more. We are very proud of all of our Freshmen and wish everyone who made it, and also those artists who were not selected, the best of luck in their career. We’ll be watching.”
The magazine will be on newsstands everywhere June 30. The XXL Freshmen will perform live in New York City at the Best Buy Theatre on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 and at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, on Monday, July 13, 2015.
