Rhyming in hushed tones that belie his big personality, Yung Mal is the future of Atlanta’s trap community. Teaming up with two of his scene’s founding fathers for an ice-cold banger, Yung Mal shares “Fresh,“ a new single. Carried by buoyant organ and creeping electric keys courtesy of trap godfather Zaytoven,“Fresh” finds Yung Mal and his mentor and 1017 Eskimo label boss Gucci Mane touting their racks and showing off their superlative slick talk. Says Gucci, “You ran off cause you thought it be a cake walk/ Stealing base, got caught, let the cake talk,” and says Mal, “Big rocks hurt my neck/Big watch got baguettes/First young n**** in the hood with a ‘Vette.” Enjoy this audio stream below after the jump and please share this with friends.
“I actually was working on the album in Atlanta when I told Gucci to send me a song for my album. He sent me ‘Fresh’ already with an open verse. I heard Zaytoven on the beat I knew it was up then,” Mal told Complex. “It’s most important to do records with Gucci just to show the world that this 1017 shit is more then just a label—we’re a family! And, of course, the fans wanna see me and him go crazy anyway.”
Known for his work with fellow Zone 6 resident and 1017 signee Lil Quill, Mal is one of Atlanta’s most promising trappers, injecting youthful energy with triplet rhymes and top-level stunting. His first-ever solo mixtape, Iceburg arrives on August 28th via 1017 Eskimo/Alamo Records.
